NFL Hokies: Week 12 primer

­With Week 11 in the NFL officially in the books and a lot to look forward to with Week 12 on the horizon, there's a bunch to take a glance at regarding what former Virginia Tech football players are up to at the professional level. With plenty of maroon and orange scattered across the league, there continues to be opportunity after opportunity to see a multitude of Hokies perform on Sunday's in the fall.

Notable Week 11 Performances

CB Kendall Fuller & TE Logan Thomas
Washington standout cornerback Kendall Fuller nabbed his first-career pick-six in the Commanders' 23-10 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon.
 

 
The 2016 third-round draft pick additionally racked up four total tackles, with two coming on his own, in the 13-point win, making his presence felt in a Washington secondary that's proved to be big in the team's late run down the stretch towards a potential playoff berth in the NFC East. 
 
Tight end Logan Thomas had quite the day himself on the flip side of the ball for the burgundy and gold. The converted quarterback from his time in Blacksburg hauled in five receptions for 65 yards down at NRG Stadium, including a 19-yard catch that led to an eventual Joey Slye field goal to give Washington a 17-0 lead. 
 
Up next for Fuller, Thomas, Slye and the remainder of the Commanders, a date with the Atlanta Falcons inside FedEx Field on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET with the game being televised on FOX.

DT Tim Settle
Buffalo defensive tackle Tim Settle recorded his first lone tackle for loss in the 2022 campaign in the Bills' 31-23 defeat of the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon.
 
The first-year member of the team's defensive front tallied two total tackles (1 solo) in the eight-point victory, showcasing his ability to be a strong depth piece on the defensive side of the ball for the remaining weeks of 2022. 

A trip to the Motor City is up next for Settle, the injured Tremaine Edmunds and the rest of the Buffalo Bills, as they take on James Mitchell and the Detroit Lions to kick off this year's slate of Thanksgiving Day football. Toe meets leather at 12:30 p.m. with the game being shown on FOX.

Thursday, Nov. 24
N.Y. Giants at Dallas - 4:30 p.m. - FOX
Reserve quarterback Tyrod Taylor and the New York Giants look to get back on track on Thursday afternoon when they hit the road for Dallas to take part in some Thanksgiving Day football against the rival Cowboys inside AT&T Stadium. 
 
Taylor, a former three-time ACC champion during his time with the Hokies, has appeared in just one game so far this season, but has shown the ability in the past to come through in big situations if needed for a perennial contender in the NFC East. 
 
Sunday, Nov. 27
Tampa Bay at Cleveland - 1 p.m. - FOX
Offensive lineman Wyatt Teller and the Cleveland Browns look to get back to their winning ways this upcoming weekend when they welcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into FirstEnergy Stadium for an interconference matchup on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Teller, a two-time All-Pro during his time in Cleveland, didn't miss a single offensive snap for the first time in six weeks this past Sunday after nursing a nagging calf injury that limited him over that period of time. 
 
The 2021 Pro Bowler posted a 60.4 pass-blocking grade, according to Pro Football Focus, in the team's 31-23 loss to Buffalo just a few days ago, but should provide ample help going forward to the Browns up front as the team looks to make a late-season push in the AFC North.


Chicago at N.Y. Jets - 1 p.m. - FOX
15-year veteran Duane Brown still hasn't missed a play on the offensive end since returning from an unspecified injury that kept him on the shelf for the first four games of the 2022 campaign. 
 
The first-year member of the Jets' offensive line capped off another solid performance in the team's 10-3 setback to the New England Patriots back on Sunday afternoon, garnering a 65.4 pass-blocking grade to yet again highlight how consistent Brown continues to be at the NFL level. 
 
The surprising Jets will look to find their footing once again this upcoming Sunday, when the team plays host to the Khalil "Juice" Herbert-less Chicago Bears for an intriguing one inside MetLife Stadium. 
 
Denver at Carolina - 1 p.m. - FOX
Rookie running back Raheem Blackshear, fellow first-year Amarè Barno and the Carolina Panthers aim to get back in the win column this upcoming weekend when the Denver Broncos come to town preparing to square off inside Bank of America Stadium. 
 
Blackshear, an undrafted free agent initially scooped up by the Bills following this past April's NFL Draft, caught two passes good for 14 yards in the team's 13-3 loss to Baltimore back on Sunday afternoon, playing on 11 offensive snaps while encrusting himself furthermore into the Carolina offense that's seemed to have benefited from Blackshear's services. 
 
Barno, on the other hand, added a single tackle this past weekend in the 10-point defeat, seemingly showing off his defensive capabilities that were on full display throughout his three seasons suiting up in the maroon and orange. 
 
Baltimore at Jacksonville - 1 p.m. - CBS
Starting safety Chuck Clark and the Baltimore Ravens eye their fifth straight win when the team travels down to Jacksonville to face off against the Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field. 
 
Clark, a sixth-year member of the purple and black, totaled three total tackles in the Ravens' 13-3 triumph over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon, adding on to another productive season roaming around Baltimore's secondary out in the Charm City. 
 
L.A. Chargers at Arizona - 4:05 p.m. - CBS
Rookie offensive lineman Lecitus Smith seeks to keep helping out up front for the Arizona Cardinals when they welcome in the Los Angeles Chargers to StateFarm Stadium on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Smith, a sixth-round pick in this past April's NFL Draft, earned his second consecutive start in this past week's edition of ESPN's Monday Night Football, playing a career-high 71 snaps in the team's 38-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and exhibiting the ability to be a valuable piece up front for a Cardinals team still within striking distance in the NFC West. 
 
Green Bay at Philadelphia - 8:20 p.m. - NBC
Offensive linemen Yosh Nijman, Luke Tenuta and the Green Bay Packers look to hand the Philadelphia Eagles just their second loss of the season when they head east to the City of Brotherly Love for this week's edition of NBC's Sunday Night Football. 
 
Nijman, a former undrafted free agent pickup following the 2019 NFL Draft, played all 61 snaps in last weekend's 27-17 setback to the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football, putting together a respectable 69.7 pass-blocking grade that marked his fifth-best of the 2022 season. 
 
Meanwhile, Tenuta, a sixth-round pick in this April's NFL Draft, still aims to make his professional debut after being scooped up off waivers from Indianapolis just a few short weeks ago. 
 
Monday, Nov. 28
Pittsburgh at Indianapolis - 8:15 p.m. - ESPN
Fifth-year safety Terrell Edmunds and the Pittsburgh Steelers attempt to steer the ship in the right direction when they head to Lucas Oil Stadium to face off against former Tech teammate Brandon Facyson and the Indianapolis Colts in this week's edition of ESPN's Monday Night Football. 
 
Edmunds, a former first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, achieved two solo stops in the Steelers' 37-30 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday afternoon. While Facyson, a first-year member of the Colts' secondary, notched four total tackles (2 solo) in a one-point defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles just a few days ago.
