Hokies take home Keystone Classic team title

Keystone Classic Results & Brackets

PHILADELPHIA – No. 11 Virginia Tech wrapped up a successful trip north as they took home the Keystone Classic team title with a total of 174.5 points on Sunday. The Hokies secured five individual titles and placed 13 out of 17 Hokie entries at the 26th Annual Keystone Classic.

The day belonged to redshirt sophomore No. 31 Connor Brady who navigated a nationally ranked field en route to the title. Brady picked up five victories on the day at 165-pounds – three over higher ranked opponents in No. 25 Will Formato of App State, Penn's No. 19 Lucas Revano, and No. 20 Evan Barczak from Drexel.

At 184-pounds, No. 9 Hunter Bolen led the Hokies with four bonus point victories in as many matches with only one seeing the third period. Bolen rebounds after last weekend's loss at Ohio State with a bonus frenzy on the day knocking on two falls and two tech falls to pick up his first tournament title of the season.

Adding to the Hokies title tally was redshirt junior at 133-pounds, No. 11 Sam Latona. Latona stormed through the competition adding a 7-2 upset victory over Penn's No. 10 Michael Colaiocco in the finals. Latona continues his hot streak after dropping his first bout of the season at the Southeast Open earlier this season. Also adding Hokie lightweight titles was No. 25 Eddie Ventresca prevailing over fellow Hokie Cooper Flynn in the finals after Flynn defeated No. 15 Ryan Miller from Penn in the semifinals. Redshirt senior Collin Gerardi secured a title in dominant fashion with a 11-3 major decision over Rider's McKenzie Bell in the finals.

The Hokies return to action in Las Vegas for the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on December 2-3 and are back in dual competition when they host No. 3 Mizzou on December 11 in Cassell Coliseum for the first home dual of the season.
