The Virginia Tech lacrosse team is working to help support the local community this upcoming holiday season with a canned food drive. The food collected will be given to Micah's Backpack, an organization that helps with food insecurity.
A donation box with be located at the entrance of Kroger (1322 S Main St., Blacksburg, VA 24060) through Nov. 9.
"As a team, we really wanted to do our best to support our surrounding community," senior Riley Hayden said. "In all the years that we have worked with Micah's Backpack, we have not only collected a lot donations, but we've helped those who have supported our program in whatever ways we could. I think we are forever indebted to the Blacksburg community and their constant support and belief in us as a team, so it's only right that we do everything in our power to give back!"
An Amazon wish list has been set up here for ideas on what items Micah's Backpack is searching for.
