BLACKSBURG – Antonio Lopez Segura made history at the Southeast Regionals on Nov. 11 in Louisville, Ky. becoming the 10th Hokie to place within the top five at regionals in program history. Lopez Segura finished fifth with a time of 29:58.2 and was the third individual not on a qualifying team to make it into the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships. The NCAA Championships will take place in Stillwater, Okla. on Saturday, Nov. 19 starting at 10:00 a.m. (ET). The men's 10k will begin at 11:10 a.m. (ET) and will air live on ESPNU.

During the 2022 championship season, Lopez Segura has earned All-Region and All-ACC honors finishing within the top 15 at both the conference and regional meets. At the Southeast Regionals, he finished fifth in the men's 10k marking the first time a Hokie athlete has finished within the top five since Peter Seufer claimed first in 2019. Lopez Segura earned All- ACC honors at the 2022 ACC Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct.28 at the Panorama Farms Country Course crossing the line 11th with a time of 23:19.0.
Saturday's race will mark the second time Lopez Segura has competed at the NCAA Championships having first competed with his team in 2019. Lopez Segura finished 182nd with a time of 33:24.8. Since then, he has gone on to claim All-ACC honors in 2020 finishing ninth at the ACC Championships with a time of 23:29.3 in the men's 8k. In 2021, he set a personal-best 10k time of 29:48.3 at the Southeast Regionals and earned himself All-Region honors.
Tech last competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2019 with the men's team finishing 17th. Peter Seufer recorded the Hokies best NCAA finish in program history, finishing fourth with a time of 30:40.1
