BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Kyle Lowe will don the No. 25 jersey on Saturday at Liberty, after he was told in a team meeting Thursday afternoon.
Lowe will wear the iconic number for the first time of his career, marking the eighth Hokie this season to rock it for the first time (Ny'Quee Hawkins, Peter Moore, Nasir Peoples, P.J. Prioleau, William Ross, Justin Pollock and Tucker Holloway).
"I grew up a huge Hokie fan, so being able to represent Frank Beamer's legacy that he left behind with special teams here is a huge honor," Lowe said. "I want to thank Coach[Brent] Pry and the rest of the staff for allowing me to wear No. 25 this week against Liberty."

Lowe, a redshirt sophomore from Midlothian, Virginia, has played in all 10 games for Tech this fall and has totaled 29 touchbacks, including a career-high six versus Wofford on Sept. 17.
Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey.
