Henson – ranked No. 27 at the time – defeated Sasso to start the top-10 matchup dual between the No. 10 Hokies and No. 4 Buckeyes at the Covelli Center. Henson trailed the bout early but managed to garner an escape and a late takedown in the third period to force overtime. Henson then went on the attack before scrambling through for the eventual winning takedown in the freshman's first collegiate start.
