Virginia Tech football met with the media Tuesday to discuss this week's matchup versus Georgia Tech. Read below to see what Tech head coach Brent Pry and defensive lineman Cole Nelson had to say.

Head coach Brent Pry

Opening Statement:
"I don't have a whole lot to open with other than I am excited about being back home in Lane Stadium and the team is excited. It is the Hall of Fame game, which is awesome, I am familiar with a couple of the Hokies being inducted. It's going to be great to have a bunch of folks back in town. You know, we were encouraged by some of the things we did in Raleigh that we built on this week. We certainly had some corrections that needed to be made, too."

On his impression of Georgia Tech since the coaching change:
"They are not making as many mistakes. They were shooting themselves in the foot. They had several kicks blocked. Things have kind of settled down. They have simplified things. I think they have good athleticism on both sides of the ball. I think the quarterback, if he's healthy, he's certainly tough to defend. He throws the ball fast, well enough and he's tough. I think they have a good group. They are a little young on the offensive line, a little bit inexperienced, but on the perimeter, I think they are a good football team. They have been playing a good brand of defense. I know what [Georgia Tech's defensive coordinator] is about defensively and the guy's underneath him. I know the defensive staff pretty well. They are good coaches and I think it's reflecting on how they are playing right now. I expect the group to come in and compete. It's important to Brent [Key], the head coach, it's his alma mater. Georgia Tech means a lot to him. I think he's going to get the best out of that group and that's what we're seeing."

Defensive lineman Cole Nelson

On where he feels like the team is at this point in the season:
"I really feel like every game we have played, we have shown bits and pieces of what kind of team we can be. We just have to finish. We are always talking about how close we are every single game. For me personally, and as a team, I think we are just tired of hearing that we're just so close, but we can't finish."

On how the NC State game showed what the offense is capable of:
"We have always known our offense is capable of that performance. We just have to put it out there on the field. We practice super hard each and every week. We have just got to put it out there on the field. As a defense, we really did love to see the offense like that and it gave us a lot of hope. So, that just fueled us even more to play hard."
