TULSA, Okla. – Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback claimed the ITA All-American Consolation Championship in doubles on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla.
After falling in the first round of the doubles main draw, the Hokies put together wins against the No. 4, No. 33 and No. 14-ranked doubles duos to claim the consolation title.
Ryan Fishback and Jordan Chrysostom beat No. 27 Baylor's Jake Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi in a three-set battle to claim the consolation doubles championship, winning the final set 10-7. The pair won four matches, all in three sets, enroute to the final. Fishback added to his doubles performance with a singles match win over University of San Diego's Oliver Tarvet, finishing 6-2, 6-3.
Huga Maia earned his first win of the fall season in the singles qualifying round, beating Louisiana State's Chen Dong 6-4, 6-2. Maia's strong play continued on the doubles court alongside Alvaro Ariza winning 5-7, 6-3, 10-2.
