Virginia Tech falls to Miami, 3-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – No. 24 Virginia Tech fell 3-1 on the road against Miami on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Cobb Stadium in the Hokies' first road loss of the season. Allie George made a late goal in the 82nd minute to prevent the Hurricanes from getting the shutout.

Virginia Tech drops to 9-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the ACC with the loss at Miami (4-5-2, 1-4 ACC). 

How it Happened

Miami took the lead in the first half when Adrianna Serna scored in the 39th minute. The Hurricanes grew to a 2-0 lead on a goal from Lauren Meeks hitting the ball off the post and into the net in the 59th minute. Miami scored their last goal of the night in the 64th minute with a goal by Katerina Molina making it 3-0. 

The Hokies fought to make a comeback in the final third of the match with Allie George scoring her second goal of the season, preventing the shutout. 

"Disappointed in our efforts tonight," said head coach Chugger Adair. "Miami burst our bubble after the huge win over North Carolina, and we now have to get back on track as we head towards Clemson on Sunday."
