BLACKSBURG – Following its practice on Wednesday ahead of Pitt, Virginia Tech football met with the media for a press conference. Read below for what head coach Brent Pry and defensive lineman Josh Fuga had to say.
Head coach Brent Pry
On if it's going to be the most physical matchup the team has had this year:
"I would say so, but West Virginia was pretty physical, too. But looking at these guys on film, and knowing them from playing them for four years (at Penn State) and knowing their head coach, I would say so."
On how important it is to have a competitive performance Saturday to continue keeping the morale high:
"I think these guys are pretty invested and are in a pretty good place. We've obviously have had adversity. I think their built that we hopefully go play well and win the football game. But whatever the outcome, I think this is a pretty strong group."
Defensive lineman Josh Fuga
On how it feels to have a head coach that is always that excitable:
"It's actually pretty cool to have someone that is in that seat of authority, the head coach, to be that guy that brings juice. You don't want somebody that it just like, 'Okay, we are practicing…' Somebody that brings juice every day is great, because sometimes you may not even bring the juice. So, for a guy to bring it 24/7, I like that."
On if he is a guy that brings the so-called juice:
"Oh yeah. I mean, yeah. What Coach Pry always says is that he doesn't have bad days. It's either great or good. When he said that, it stuck with me. I either have a great day or a good day, regardless of what happened. So, when I step forth on this field, all my problems go away. It's just me and the man I'm keying and the keys to victory and all that."
