NFL Hokies: Week 5 primer

With Week 4 in the NFL officially in the books and a lot to look forward to with Week 5 on the horizon, there's a bunch to take a glance at regarding what former Virginia Tech football players are up to at the professional level. With plenty of maroon and orange scattered across the league, there continues to be opportunity after opportunity to see a multitude of Hokies perform on Sunday's in the fall.

What's on-tap for Week 5? For a full rundown, read Wednesday's edition of NFL Hokies, presented by Coca-Cola.
 Notable Week 4 Performances

LB Tremaine Edmunds
Buffalo's Tremaine Edmunds continues to impress early on in the 2022 campaign. The Bills' fifth-year linebacker recorded nine total tackles in the team's thrilling three-point victory over Baltimore this past weekend, with the former first-round pick putting together another strong performance for the fourth consecutive week.

Edmunds and company will look to keep up their winning ways this upcoming Sunday when Buffalo plays host to his brother Terrell and the Pittsburgh Steelers in a crucial AFC showdown. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET and will be televised on CBS.

LB Divine Deablo
Linebacker Divine Deablo keeps producing at an extremely high level ever since breaking into the NFL as a third-round selection a season ago.

A former star safety during his time with the Hokies, Deablo racked up eight total tackles, with three coming on his own, in Las Vegas' 32-23 win over Denver back on Sunday.

And with the Raiders traveling to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs on Monday Night Football, he'll have yet another opportunity to showcase his talents at the highest level when toe meets leather at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN.

OT Christian Darrisaw
It's impossible to give too much praise to Minnesota's Christian Darrisaw for what he's done on the offensive line so far for the Vikings in 2022.

After being deemed by Pro Football Focus as one of the highest-graded linemen two weeks ago in a win over the Lions, Darrisaw followed that up in London this past weekend with another solid performance in the victory over New Orleans.

The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder didn't miss an offensive snap for the third straight week in the winning effort, and will look to add on to that impressive feat when the Vikings welcome in former college teammate Khalil Herbert and the Chicago Bears for a big-time matchup in the NFC North. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and will be televised on FOX.

More Week 5 Matchups

Thursday, Oct. 6
Indianapolis at Denver - 8:15 p.m. - Amazon Prime Video
Cornerback Brandon Facyson, offensive lineman Luke Tenuta and the Indianapolis Colts gear up for a trip to Denver to take on the Broncos in this week's edition of Thursday Night Football.

Facyson made his presence felt once again in last week's 24-17 loss to Tennessee, tallying one lone tackle in just 12 snaps played in the narrow defeat inside Lucas Oil Stadium this past Sunday. While Tenuta, a sixth-round pick in this past year's NFL draft, eyes to still make his professional debut after being picked up by the Colts prior to the season's start.

N.Y. Giants vs. Green Bay (London) - 9:30 a.m. - NFL Network
Tyrod Taylor made his Giants debut in New York's 20-12 win over Chicago at MetLife Stadium back on Sunday.

The former three-time ACC Champion during his time suiting up for the maroon and orange went 1-for-3 on the day with 11 yards to contribute to the victory, before being forced to leave the game with an apparent concussion after relieving starting quarterback Daniel Jones.

The questionable Taylor will look to return this weekend and help out if needed, as the Giants make the trip across the pond to take on Yosh Nijman and the Green Bay Packers in the NFL's newest version of the International Series.

L.A. Chargers at Cleveland - 1 p.m. - CBS
Cleveland star tackle Wyatt Teller has continued to be a staple on the Browns' offensive line over the course of the year so far in 2022.

Having not missed a snap all season long, the 2021 Pro Bowler keeps contributing for Cleveland at the highest of levels, molding himself more and more into one of the best to do it at his position throughout the entirety of the NFL.

Teller and company look to get back on track this weekend after a tough loss to Atlanta last Sunday, welcoming the Los Angeles Chargers inside FirstEnergy Stadium.

Detroit at New England - 1 p.m. - CBS
Rookie tight end James Mitchell finally made his first appearance on the gridiron in the NFL this past weekend in Detroit's high-scoring loss to Seattle on Sunday afternoon.

The former fifth-round pick in this past year's NFL draft played 19 total snaps in his professional debut, and will look to keep on providing some much-needed depth in the tight ends room when the Lions make the trip to New England to face off against the Patriots.

Tennessee at Washington - 1 p.m. - CBS
Cornerback Caleb Farley and the Tennessee Titans eye their third consecutive victory when they travel to the nation's capital this weekend to take on fellow corner Kendall Fuller, tight end Logan Thomas, placekicker Joey Slye and the remainder of the Washington Commanders.

Farley totaled four total tackles last weekend in the team's inspiring 24-17 win over Indianapolis inside Lucas Oil Stadium, returning back to his old self after a slower performance a week prior in a victory over Las Vegas.

Slye, meanwhile, booted through his first field goal attempt of the season from 45 yards out in Washington's loss to Dallas on Sunday afternoon. While Fuller garnered three total tackles (2 solo) and Thomas caught five passes for 19 yards, continuing to be a major part of Washington's offense with his playmaking ability at the tight end position.

San Francisco at Carolina - 4:05 p.m. - CBS
First-years Amarè Barno, Raheem Blackshear and the Carolina Panthers look to get back on track this Sunday when the team plays host to the San Francisco 49ers in what could be a huge swing game for Carolina in the 2022 campaign.

Barno, a sixth-round pick this past April, and Blackshear, an undrafted free agent that was recently signed off the Bills' practice squad, both still seek to make their NFL debuts this weekend at Bank of America Stadium.

And with both putting together impressive careers during their time in Blacksburg, don't be surprised if that opportunity comes sooner rather than later.

Philadelphia at Arizona - 4:25 p.m. - FOX
The Cardinals and rookie offensive tackle Lecitus Smith look to keep the momentum going when they welcome in the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon inside State Farm Stadium.

Smith, a sixth-round round selection in this past year's NFL Draft, didn't see any action in the win over the Panthers in Charlotte this past weekend, but has proved to be a valuable asset in the limited time on the field thus far in his debut season out in the desert.

Cincinnati at Baltimore - 8:20 p.m. - NBC
Standout safety Chuck Clark and the Baltimore Ravens look to right the ship on Sunday Night Football, when they play host to the Cincinnati Bengals in what should be a highly anticipated meeting in the AFC North.

Clark, who has become a major piece of Baltimore's secondary, put together another nice Sunday at the office in which he added six total tackles, including three solo stops, in the 23-20 loss to Buffalo.

And if the sixth-year member of the purple and black continues to produce at a level of this caliber, it'll be a huge boost to the Ravens' hopes of contending for the division crown in one of the most competitive ones in the entirety of the NFL.
