THE SERIES
The Hokies are 4-15-4 against the Blue Devils in a series that dates back to Oct. 12, 1974.
Since joining the ACC in 2004, Tech is 3-11-4 against Duke.
The two sides have met twice when the Blue Devils have been ranked in the top three nationally. The first instance was Virginia Tech's first win against a No. 1 program in 2004 and the second was a 0-0 draw in 2006.
In Blacksburg, the Hokies are 2-6-1 with the last win coming in 2016.

A WIN WOULD…
Be Virginia Tech's first ACC win of the season. The Hokies have won at least one ACC contest in 15 of its 18 seasons in the league.
Be Virginia Tech's first ranked win of the season, which would make it eight-consecutive seasons with a ranked win for Tech.

LAST TIME OUT
Virginia Tech fell 1-0 to Notre Dame last Friday with a second-half penalty kick by the Fighting Irish being the deciding factor.
Ben Martino made a penalty stop in the 39th minute, but was unable to deny Paddy Burns' attempt from the spot in the 59th minute.
Chris Nicola made his first start of the season for Tech in last Friday's game.
The Hokies failed to record a shot on target for the second time this season (UCLA).
