As tipoff draws closer and Hokie Nation's excitement about returning to Cassell Coliseum ramps up, game promotions and theme days have been announced for the Virginia Tech women's basketball team's upcoming 2022-23 campaign.
The Hokies will enter the season ranked No. 13 nationally, the program's highest-ever spot on the AP Top 25 preseason poll. Tech returns reigning ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley along with standout guards Georgia Amoore, Cayla King and Kayana Traylor, and welcomes impact transfers Ashley Owusu and Taylor Soule to form one of the most talented teams in the country.
Season tickets are still available for as little as $80 for adults and $35 for youth. The Hokies will play a number of marquee games at home this season, highlighted by contests against Notre Dame, North Carolina, Louisville, NC State and Nebraska, as they strive for a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
There will be plenty of exciting themes, promotions and halftime acts for fans to experience in Cassell Coliseum this season. The schedule features several themed games like Military Appreciation Night, Special Olympics Day, Autism Awareness Day, "Frozen" Night, National Girls & Women in Sports Day and more. Talented halftime performers set to appear include Jeff Wright's Flying Houndz, Mutts Gone Nuts, hula hoop dancer Grace Good and all-male a cappella group Juxtaposition, to name a few.
Also planned for this season are color-specific games including a Black Out against Syracuse and a Maroon Out against Duke in partnership with the Virginia Tech Undergraduate Student Senate, as well as an Orange Out against NC State.
