BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech was ranked No. 21 in the KenPom rankings, which were revealed over the weekend. The Hokies were the fourth-highest ACC team in the rankings, only trailing Virginia (No. 5), North Carolina (No. 9) and Duke (No. 15).

On Monday, the Associated Press Preseason Men's Basketball Top 25 Poll was released. UNC topped the poll, followed by Duke (No. 7) and Virginia (No. 18). Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame all received votes. Notably, Dayton, which visits Cassell Coliseum on Dec. 7, was ranked No. 24.

UNC is ranked preseason No. 1 for a record 10th time, breaking a tie with Duke. The Tar Heels are preseason No. 1 for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

This is the 22nd time an ACC program has earned the AP's preseason No. 1 ranking, with the last being Duke prior to the 2017-18 season.
