First Half Lookback: Virginia Tech vs. Miami (Fla.)

BLACKSBURG – Back in Lane Stadium on Saturday for the first time in over three weeks, Virginia Tech trails Miami (Fla.) 17-0 heading into the break.
 
In the first half, the Hokie offense gained 44 yards on the ground and 62 through the air. Penalties have kept Tech in the game, with Miami committing eight penalties for 79 yards.

On Miami's second drive of the game, the Hokies were able to stop the Hurricanes in the red zone to hold them to only a field goal.
 
Running back Malachi Thomas currently leads the Tech run game with 33 yards on nine attempts. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive linemen TyJuan Garbutt has four tackles, including two TFLs and 0.5 sacks, while linebacker Alan Tisdale currently leads the team with seven tackles.
