Hokies travel to Virginia on Saturday

BLACKSBURG ­– Virginia Tech men's and women's cross country teams travel to Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday, Oct. 15 to compete at the Panorama Farms XC23 Invitational, hosted by Virginia. The men's 8k will start at 10:00 a.m. followed by the women's 5k at 11:00 a.m.

After nearly a month off, the Hokies return to action looking to gain insight into the courses before the ACC Championships on Oct. 28 in Charlottesville. The Hokies started the season off strong as the women's team won the 4k at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a perfect 15-points score, the men's team claimed first with 20 points.

Senior Ava Hassebrock won the women's 4k crossing the finish-line with a personal-best time of 14:44.1 in the first meet of the season on Sept. 2. Hassebrock stepped back onto the course two weeks later finishing sixth with a time of 21:38.4 (6k).
Cheyenne Leatham, Sarah Leach, and Grace Boone have each recorded two top-15 finishes this season.
 
Leading the men's team, Antonio Lopez Segura has scored two second place finishes this season including a personal-best time of 18:31.6 in the men's 6k. Segura went on to clock in a time of 24:34.9 in the men's 8k at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational. Arnav Tikhe scored sixth in the 8k race with a personal-best time of 25:11.6.
 
The Hokies will end their regular season on Saturday before heading back to Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday, Oct. 28 for the ACC Championships.
