I've always had a love-hate relationship with wrestling.
I can't even tell you the number of times I thought about quitting.
You know, there would just always come this point when the grind and sacrifices became too much.
Instead of hanging out with friends, I was getting in miles, hitting weights, and leaving it all out on the mats. My weekends were spent at wrestling tournaments, and I was on a strict diet so I wouldn't mess up my competition weight.
It can be a lot to deal with, especially at a young age.
Sometimes, all I wanted to do was have that slice of pizza when I was craving it, kick back with my friends, and live life like a normal teenager.
But speaking of craving — I was also craving the other side of wrestling.
The success.
The competition.
The life lessons.
The relationships.
It wasn't always easy, no doubt, but man, I'm so glad I didn't give in when things got hard.
