NFL Hokies fare well in regular season finales

Defensive Hokies lead teams in must-win games
The final week of the NFL regular season always provides do-or-die games with playoff implications. Tech alums were front and center in several of those games, including the thrilling Sunday night victory for the Raiders. LB Divine Deablo and CB Brandon Facyson started for Las Vegas and combined for 13 tackles as Deablo recovered a fumble on the punt coverage unit and Facyson recorded a tackle for loss and two passes defended.

Needing a win and some help, the Pittsburgh Steelers and S Terrell Edmunds sweated out the possible tie on Sunday Night Football, which would have eliminated them from playoff contention, after taking down AFC North rival Baltimore. Edmunds helped the Steelers defense limit the Ravens to 13 points in the three-point win, recording an interception, three tackles and three passes defended.

LB Tremaine Edmunds and the Bills clinched their second straight AFC East title with a win over in-state foe, the N.Y. Jets. Edmunds started and recorded five tackles, including one for loss, and a pass defended in Sunday's win.

Hokies turn in solid final performances
Chicago Bears' rookie RB Khalil Herbert completed his first professional campaign on Sunday with four carries for 11 yards while adding a 36-yard kickoff return.

Three of Tech's NFL offensive linemen started and played every snap of their teams' Week 18 game. T Duane Brown and T Christian Darrisaw did so at left tackle for the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings, while G Wyatt Teller started at right guard for the Cleveland Browns. All three Hokies earned victories in their final action of the season.

On the defensive side of the ball, four Hokies represented well in their last appearances of the season. Despite Baltimore's loss, S Chuck Clark made nine tackles and had a pass defended versus the Steelers. DT Tim Settle recorded a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery while CB Kendall Fuller made three tackles and registered a pass defended for Washington. Broncos' CB Kyle Fuller started and made eight tackles in Denver's final contest of the season.

K Joey Slye had a steady, final showing for Washington in the 2021-22 season, making all three of his field goal attempts including a 43-yard long.
