BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's golf team travels to Durham, North Carolina for the 12th annual Rod Myers Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The Hokies opened their season earlier this week with a 15th-place finish in the Fighting Irish Classic. Daniel Azallion led Tech by tying for 41st at 3-over 213 (69-72-72). The senior recorded a team-best 11 birdies.
Duke will host the 54-hole tournament comprising 14 programs at the par 72, 7,154-yard Duke University Golf Club. The Hokies will be paired with Liberty and Duke's individuals for Friday's opening 36 holes, which begin with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start. Tee times begin at 7:35 a.m. for Saturday's final round.
Head coach Brian Sharp and company placed sixth in the Rod Myers Invitational last season with a score of 862 (-2). David Stanford impressed by placing 22nd at 1-over 217 (72-74-71) in his first collegiate event. Stanford's final round included four birdies.
Azallion, Stanford, Charlie Hanson, Kobe Valociek and Merhbaan Singh will compete for Tech this weekend.
