CINCINNATI – It didn't take long for Virginia Tech football linebacker Dax Hollifield to pick up where he left off last year, as the fifth-year senior earned the second-highest rating from any linebacker nationally in Week 1 of the 2022 season, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
Grading out for a 90.9 overall defensive rating, including an impressive 91.5 coverage rating, Hollifield shined at Old Dominion last Friday, racking up 10 tackles (1.5 TFL), two fumble recoveries, two pass deflections and a forced fumble.
The Shelby, North Carolina native became just the second Tech player since 2007 to have two or more fumble recoveries (Jaylen Griffin, 2 – Nov. 7, 2020 vs. Liberty).
Hollifield and the Hokies (0-1) will be back in action on Saturday against Boston College (0-1) for an ACC bout at 8 p.m. ET on ACC Network in Blacksburg. Tickets are still available starting at $65. This weekend's contest will also be Tech's annual Orange Effect game. Fans can pick one up on Saturday from the Hokie Shop's trailer in Lot 4.
