BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Keshon Artis will don the No. 25 jersey on Saturday against Boston College, after he was told in a team meeting Thursday afternoon.

Artis, a linebacker from Chesapeake, Virginia, registered a solo tackle at Old Dominion last week and is a key player on special teams for special teams coordinator Stu Holt. Saturday will mark Artis' second time earning the honor, with him wearing the number at Louisville on Oct. 31, 2020.

"It's a blessing to be able to wear No. 25," Artis said moments after learning in the team meeting. "I've been here for five years, so I've been able to see what No. 25 means to this program. I'm truly honored and can't wait to wear No. 25 against Boston College this Saturday."

Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
