BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech had its most impressive performance going towards goal this season, but was still unable to bag a goal in a scoreless draw with Radford on Friday evening.

There were a number of opportunities that seemed to be the magical moment that the Hokies have now waited 270 minutes for, however none came to fruition.

Tech out-shot the visiting Highlanders, 12-5, in the first battle between the two sides since 2012. The Hokies put a season-high five of those attempts on target. Despite putting five chances on frame, Virginia Tech's two best opportunities were registered off target.

Ricki Vidal was played in and rounded the keeper before burying a shot in the back of the net in the 29th minute, but the linesman ruled the Spanish forward offside. Just 15 minutes later with half time looming, Misei Yoshizawa ripped a shot near the 18-yard box across his body and it rattled off the right post.

In the second half, Tech didn't have one concrete opportunity, but it resided in Radford's final third for most of the period.

On par with the two other matches this season, Ben Martino and Tech's back line put together an impressive performance. Martino earned his two saves on the night by being quick off his line once, then stifling stifling a shot from close range.
