RALEIGH, N.C. – Virginia Tech upset No. 22 NC State in a 1-0 shutout victory on Thursday (Sept. 22) in Raleigh, N.C.
The victory boosted Virginia Tech's record to 7-2-1 overall and 1-1 in ACC play. The Wolfpack drops to an overall record of 6-2-3, 1-1 in the ACC.
How it Happened
Virginia Tech scored the lone goal of the game when Taylor Price scored her sixth goal of the season in the 62nd minute, assisted by Natalie Mitchell. Hokies triumphed over the Wolfpack with a 21-7 shot advantage, holding NC State down to one shot on goal in 90 minutes of action. Lauren Hargrove recorded her fourth clean sheet of the season, third resulting in a win.
"I am extremely pleased with the effort tonight, the team was focused and dialed in from start to finish against a very good NC State team," said head coach Chugger Adair. "We were smart on the ball and defended well as a group. I look forward to the continued success as we head into the weekend to play Wake Forest."
