BLACKSBURG — The Virginia Tech women's golf team is set to take part in the 54-hole Schooner Fall Classic for the first time this weekend. Oklahoma will host the three-day event at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma, Saturday through Monday.
Tech last played in Oklahoma during the 2019 postseason when the team was selected to the Norman Regional.
The Hokies are coming off a great start to their season following the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate earlier this week. They tied for sixth in the tournament alongside Tennessee and Michigan. Becca DiNunzio led the Hokies with a 6-under 207 to tie for seventh. Her 6-under-par ledger tied her best mark for 54 holes.
In her Tech debut, Morgan Ketchum showed why she has a promising future with the Hokies by carding an even-par 213.
Tech will travel with the same lineup as it did for the season opener. In addition to DiNunzio and Ketchum, Symone Henriques, Alyssa Montgomery and Ginnie Lee will make the trip.
The Schooner Fall Classic will feature 15 teams, including ACC rivals Clemson, Florida State and Louisville.
Teams will play 54 holes starting on Saturday with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. CT. Round 2 will tee off with a shotgun start on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. CT, followed by the final round with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. CT on Monday.
Following the Schooner Fall Classic, the Hokies will have a short break before the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. The 54-hole event will take place at UNC Finley Golf Course, Oct. 17-18.
