BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech travels to Raleigh, N.C. for a Friday night ACC fixture against NC State. The match will begin a five-game stretch in which the Hokies are the road for four contests.

THE SERIES

  • The Hokies and Wolfpack have met 25 times with 19 of those matches occurring since Tech joined the ACC ahead of the 2004 season.
  • NC State holds a 15-9-1 advantage in the matchup, although Tech has won three of the last four matches.

  • Virginia Tech picked up its first win of the season against Longwood with a 4-0 result on Tuesday night. 
  • All four of the Hokies goals came in the first half. 
  • Carter Hensley recorded his first career goal in the 7th minute of the game.
  • Conor Pugh added two goals in the 30th and 34th minute. Pugh's game was the second multi-goal game of his career. The first came last season against Davidson on Oct. 12, 2021.
  • Danny Flores nabbed his second goal of the season with a penalty kick (won by Zayyan Ahmed) in the 44th minute. It was Flores' second goal from the penalty spot this season.
  • Declan Quill earned his first start of the season, while Jordan Black made his first career appearance for Tech off the bench.
  • Mason McClendon, Chris Nicola and Connor Jordan-Hyde (GK) also made their first appearances of the season.

  • After only scoring four goals in the first six fixtures this season, the fewest since 1998 (3), Tech put up four goals in the first 45 minutes of Tuesday's game.
  • The Hokies had three different goal scorers for the first time since Oct. 20, 2021 against Winthrop.
