BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech football's Peter Moore will don the No. 25 jersey on Saturday against Wofford, after he was told in a team meeting Thursday afternoon.

Moore, a punter from Davidsonville, Maryland, will be wearing No. 25 for the first time of his career. The redshirt sophomore has played in 16 games for the Hokies since 2020 and was named a Freshman All-American by The Athletic a season ago. This season, Moore has already collected two honors from the Ray Guy Award, with being on Ray's Eight List in Weeks 1 and 2 after averaging 42 yards per punt (14 total punts) and racking up five punts inside the 20.

"It's an honor to wear the No. 25 this week because of all the great players that have come before me," Moore said. "Let's rock out this weekend against Wofford."

Tech retired Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey in 2002, and since the start of the 2016 season, the Hokies have been paying homage to Tech's legacy of excellence on special teams by selecting a different special teams athlete each week to wear the honorary Beamer 25 jersey. For more information on who has worn it in the past.
