BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's and women's cross country teams return to the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course in Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational on Friday, Sept. 16. The women's 6k will go off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's 8k at 6:40 p.m. In addition to the men's and women's races, there will be an alumni 4k which will go off at 5:30 p.m. Live Results
The Hokies are excited to return to the course after their dominance at the Virginia Tech Invitational. The women's team dominated the field with a perfect 15- point score after leading the pack the entire race. The top-five women crossed the finish line almost in perfect sync finishing with tenths of a second between them. Ava Hasselbrock and Grace Boone finished first and second with a recorded time of 14:44.1. Sarah Leach followed closely in third with a time of 14:44.2.
The men's team earned first with 20 points after finishing second through sixth. Antonio Lopez Segura led the team with a personal best time of 18:31.6, scoring second. Segura was followed closely by Declan Rymer in third with stopping the clock at 18:31.7. Arnac Tikhe scored fourth with a recorded time of 18.38.5.
The Hokies will next head to Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday, Oct. 15 for the Panorama Farms XC 23 Invitational.
