First Half Lookback: Virginia Tech vs. Boston College

Stellar defense and a dominant running game put Virginia Tech up 17-3 over Boston College heading into the half.

In its first game back in Blacksburg, the Lunch Pail defense made its presence heard, holding BC to just 54 yards of total offense. Before the Eagles' final drive of the half, they were held to -6 yards of offense. Along with the lockdown defense, Tech also had two sacks and an interception.

The defense made an impact early, with an interception by defensive back Armani Chatman on the second play of the game. The Hokies capitalized on the turnover, with a one-yard rushing touchdown by running back Jalen Holston to put Tech up 7-0 just four minutes into the game.

To close out the first quarter, William Ross hit a career-long 49-yard field goal to give the Hokies a 10-0 lead.

Tech's success continued in the second, where on the first play of the quarter, running back Keshawn King exploded through the line for a 65-yard touchdown run, marking the longest run of his career and first rushing touchdown of the season.

BC closed the second quarter with a 65-yard drive, but Tech's defense was able to hold the Eagles to only a field goal before heading into the break.
