Tech falls to Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia Tech fell to Virginia, 4-2, on the road on Friday night.
 
The evening started bright for the Hokies in the 22nd minute when Conor Pugh registered his first goal of the season. Misei Yoshizawa delivered a ball off a free kick from the right side of the pitch that found Pugh in a crowd. Tech's forward was able to flick it past the keeper for the opening goal. 
 
The Hokies carried that lead into the break.
 
In the second half, Virginia Tech was able to hold strong and create chances for the first 20 minutes of the period.
 
Virginia found a breakthrough in the 70th minute and quickly tacked on another in the 75th minute.
 
In the 83rd minute, Tech was reduced to ten men following a Jack Dearie red card. That infraction led to a Cavaliers' penalty, which was converted.
 
Virginia added another shortly after.
 
The night was wrapped up when Misei Yoshizawa scored his second goal in two matches with a shot from outside the box.
