BLACKSBURG – The first Hokie to wear the No. 25 jersey for head coach Brent Pry is defensive back Ny'Quee Hawkins, who was told in a team meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Hawkins, a defensive back from Orange, New Jersey, enters his redshirt junior season and will be a key player on special teams for special teams coordinator Stu Holt.

"Wearing No. 25 at Virginia Tech is definitely an honor here," Hawkins said following the meeting. "I'm blessed to be able to wear the number on Friday night. It's such a rich tradition here for the guys that wore it before me since Coach [Frank] Beamer's been here, especially on special teams. I just can't wait to wear it on Friday night against ODU."
