Soundbites: Post-practice media availability (Old Dominion)

BLACKSBURG – Following its practice on Wednesday, Virginia Tech football met with the media for a media availability. Read below for what head coach Brent Pry and tight end Drake De Iuliis had to say.

Head coach Brent Pry

Opening statement:

"We are ready to go. The hay is almost in the barn. We are going to finish it out with some good preparation and see where it gets us."

On how he treats a travel roster with utilizing the max players a team can take or being skinner on the road:
"We use the max. You want the depth, right? You want to take the guys you need to take. I try to leave a couple of spots for Coach [Stu] Holt's special teams for guys that may not be factoring in for either offense or defense, but he could use them. But at the same time, you always want to have a spot or two for a guy that needs the experience to travel. He's not factoring in right now but he will, and getting him that experience is valuable."

On getting back on the field in this new era of Virginia Tech football:
"I'm excited. I think this new coaching staff provides a lot of energy. The young guys are coming along and the team seems really solidified. I'm really excited for the opportunity."

On freshman tight end Dae'Quan Wright:
"He's really talented. He has come along and learned really quickly for a young guy. There is no ceiling for him. He can do whatever he wants to do if he stays on top of it and works hard."
