Behind the Numbers: Virginia Tech women’s soccer goes unbeaten through first four matches

The Virginia Tech women's soccer team has started its season off strong. The Hokies are unbeaten through their first four matches (3-0-1), picking up victories against William & Mary, Delaware and Elon. This season marks the first time since 2019 when Tech has been unbeaten through its first four matches. Under the leadership of head coach Chugger Adair, the Hokies look to continue this streak at Old Dominion on Thursday.

Tech has racked up 11 goals through its first four matches, averaging 2.75 goals per match. This past Sunday, the Hokies' attacking style was on full display at Elon as Tech racked up five goals, including three during the second half, to win by the final score of 5-1 – its largest victory of the season.
 
As a team, Tech has outscored its opponents, 11-4, with freshman Taylor Price leading the charge (team-high three goals). Sophomore forward Sophie Maltese and junior attacker Tori Powell follow closely behind with two goals apiece.
 
Two Hokies account for more than half of the team's assists in freshman Natalie Mitchell and sophomore Lauren Gogal (team-high three assists each). Additionally, five players factor into the remaining assists tally, showcasing Tech's well-balanced attack.
 
In goal, sophomore Lauren Hargrove has made eight saves, having conceded one goal across her four appearances.
