1. At what age did you begin playing volleyball and what do you love most about playing?

SC: I started playing volleyball at nine years old. I fell in love with the game because of the competitive nature of the sport. I love the adrenaline rush that I get from stepping on to the court whether it is at practice or in a game.

2. Why did you choose Virginia Tech?

SC: I chose Virginia Tech because I not only wanted to play volleyball here, but I also love the atmosphere around the campus. It's beautiful here in all seasons and I wanted a change from where I grew up.

3. What are you most excited for as you head into your first season as a Hokie?

SC: I'm most excited about getting to compete with my teammates. I can already tell that we have a special bond and we're all here for the same reason. To win.

4. What position do you play and how did you begin playing that position?

SC: I am a libero/DS. When I was 15, I switched from being an outside hitter because I wanted to go big in college and I knew that with my height, I'd have more opportunities as a passer.

5. What is your major and why did you choose it?

SC: I am a biology major. I chose this because I want to pursue a career in optometry after college and being a bio major puts me on track for that.

6. Describe yourself in three words

SC: Competitive. Driven. Leader.

7. What is your favorite place to eat at in Blacksburg so far?

SC: My favorite place to eat in Blacksburg is definitely Benny's.

8. What does it mean to you to be a Hokie?

SC: Being a Hokie to me means putting full effort into everything that matters to you. That means in the volleyball world, as well as focusing on school and relationships.
