Hokies fall to Coastal Carolina

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Virginia Tech volleyball team fell to Coastal Carolina 3-0 in the first match of the day on Saturday, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-21.
 
Tech battled in each set, coming within one late in set two after a Coastal attack error at 23-22. The Chanticleers reached set point at 24-23 before a kill from Coastal's Agata Lesiak put the second set away.
 
Virginia Tech also kept the third set close, going back-and-forth with Coastal. The set was tied at 20-20 before the Chanticleers used a 5-1 run to close out the set and give the Hokies their first loss of the season.
 
Leading the Hokies offense again was senior Cera Powell, tallying nine kills on the day. Amaya Roberson and Sydney Petersen each added six kills apiece. Petersen hit .417 over three sets played. Roberson was also active on the block, recording two block assists, along with Cara Lewis. The Hokies ended the match with four total blocks.
 
Getting the start at libero, Logan Mosley recorded 14 digs and Powell led the team with 16 digs. Freshman Hanna Borer was the team-leader for the second straight match in assists with 12.
 
The Hokies will play their final match of the Seahawk Volleyball Classic against Davidson at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
