1. At what age did you begin playing volleyball and what do you love most about playing?
SP: I started playing on a recreational team when I was 12 and on a club team when I was 14. My favorite part of playing volleyball is working hard, getting better, and growing as a team and individual.
2. Why did you choose Virginia Tech?
SP: Virginia Tech has a high standard for academics and athletics. Being able to attend and compete for Virginia Tech was a dream! I trust that my coaches, teammates, and support staff will encourage me to be the best student, athlete, and person I can be.
3. What are you most excited for as you head into your first season as a Hokie?
SP: I can't wait to compete against some of the best teams in the country. The ACC is deeply competitive and I am excited to see what our team can accomplish this season.
4. What position do you play and how did you begin playing that position?
SP: I am a right-side hitter, and this will be my first season hitting and blocking on the pin. All throughout high school, club, and college, I have played middle, but I am excited to make the switch to right side this season.
5. What is your major and why did you choose it?
SP: I am a graduate student getting my Master of Public Health in Infectious Disease. I find health and infectious disease epidemiology very interesting and the program here is perfect for that.
6. Describe yourself in three words
SP: I would describe myself as self-motivated, genuine and kind.
7. What is your favorite place to eat at in Blacksburg so far?
SP: I like Cabo Fish Taco!
8. What does it mean to you to be a Hokie?
SP: Being a Hokie means taking pride in representing Virginia Tech. It's an honor and privilege to represent Virginia Tech. Whether that is in the classroom or on the court, I am proud to be a Hokie!
