Women’s basketball announces new titles for longtime staff members

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's basketball program and Head Coach Kenny Brooks announced promotions for two longtime staff members, Greg Werner and Tim Clark Tuesday morning.

"I am extremely happy for Coach G and Tim in receiving their respective promotions," Brooks commented. "Their loyalty and dedication to me and this program has been a direct result of the success we've had over the years. I'm looking forward to what the future holds."

Werner is now the assistant athletics director, strength & conditioning – S&C Coach for women's basketball after serving as senior director for the past six years. Affectionately known as Coach G, Werner has been on the sidelines with Coach Brooks for 19 of his 20 seasons as a head coach. 

Prior to moving to Blacksburg, Werner spent one season at Auburn with the women's basketball program and ran James Madison's strength and conditioning department for over 20 years. He was inducted into the Dukes' Hall of Fame in 2014.

Clark has been elevated to senior director, chief of staff after spending six years in Blacksburg as the program's director of operations. He has spent the past 17 years working with Brooks, beginning with his time at JMU as a student manager. Clark has served a variety of roles in Brooks' programs including; head team manager, graduate assistant and most recently director of operations.

He assists the coaching staff by directing all day-to-day operations, managing team travel plans, overseeing the program's budget and developing the Hokie Hardwood Club community.
