Hokies announce 2022 cross country schedule

BLACKSBURG – Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Cianelli and Head Cross Country and Distance Coach Eric Johannigmeier have announced Virginia Tech's competition schedule for this fall's cross country season.

Buford Meredith Cross Country Course will play host to the Hokies' three home meets, as Johannigmeier's squads open the season on Sept. 2 with the Virginia Tech Invitational then compete two weeks later on Sept. 16 in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational.

Tech will make the trek to Charlottesville for the XC 23 Invitational on Oct. 15 for the first away meet of the season and a look at the course that will host the ACC Championships on Oct. 28.

Following the conference meet, the Hokies return to Blacksburg to host the Hokie Open on Nov. 4, then will travel to Louisville, Ky. the next weekend to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional. Athletes and teams who qualify from the regional meet will head to Stillwater, Okla. for the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships.

With a schedule focused on regional competition and five meets split between Blacksburg and Charlottesville, the Hokies will look to continue their recent successes in cross country and put together a strong fall of action.
