GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference recognized individual award winners for the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field season on Thursday, with Virginia Tech's Kahleje "KJ" Tillmon earning Men's Co-Freshman of the Year honors.
After walking on last fall and earning a full scholarship this spring, Tillmon was ACC Champion in the 200 meters, breaking the Hokies' 10-year-old school record with a time of 20.41. The Tucker, Ga. native also ran the opening leg on Virginia Tech's 4x100m relay all season, helping the Hokies to their first ACC title in the event in school history (38.69) and second-team All-America honors at the NCAAs (38.99).
Tillmon and the 4x100m squad set a new school record in the event four times this season, becoming the first and only Hokies 4x1 to run sub-39 seconds – a feat they accomplished three times in 2022.
