Lemley to represent United States at Canada Cup

– After a standout freshman season at Virginia Tech, Emma Lemley has been chosen to represent the United States on the U.S. Women's National Team this week at the Canada Cup International Softball Championship.
 
The competition features 10 different countries, with the United States opening the tournament on Monday, June 20 in Surrey, British Columbia.
 
The U.S. will kick off pool play on Monday, June 20 at 8:30 p.m. PT against Korea followed by matchups against T.C. Colorado (June 21 at 3:30 p.m. PT), Czech Republic (June 22 at 1 p.m. PT), Chinese Taipei (June 22 at 9 p.m. PT) and Aussie Spirit (June 23 at 8:30 p.m. PT). Following the conclusion of pool play, the top four teams from each pool will advance to the Playoff Round with the final two teams going head-to-head in the Canada Cup gold medal matchup on Sunday, June 26.
 
Lemley was named the ACC Freshman of the Year, as well as First Team All-ACC, a member of the All-Freshman team and NFCA First Team All-Region. She finished the regular season with a 15-4 record and a 6-2 mark in ACC play with two saves. The right-hander had three shutouts in conference play, including then-No. 14/9 Clemson, Louisville and Boston College to clinch the regular season championship.
 
During the Blacksburg Regional, Lemley played an important role in the Hokies two wins over Kentucky to clinch a Super Regional berth. She started in both games, earning the game one win after limiting the Wildcats to just two runs, striking out four. She totaled 14 strikeouts over the Regional weekend for Tech.
 
Overall, Lemley posted 212 strikeouts on the season with a 2.12 ERA. She finished 16-6 in the circle with a .186 batting average against. Lemley also tied for the team lead in shutouts with six. She is averaged 10.7 strikeouts per seven innings which ranked ninth nationally and second in the ACC.
