CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback's season came to an end on Tuesday afternoon at the hands of No. 3 Jake Finn Bass & Svewn Lah. Virginia Tech's doubles pair fell, 6-4, 6-3, to the team from Baylor in the Round of 32 of the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship.
After Chrysostom and Fishback won the first two games of the first set, their opponents gained momentum and put together a run of games for a 3-2 lead. The Baylor tandem would not let go of their advantage and took the first set.
In the second set, the two teams exchanged breaks to start play, but eventually Baylor took control again and held on for a two-set victory.
Despite the loss, Chrysostom and Fishback cemented their spot in Virginia Tech men's tennis record books as only the second doubles pair to make multiple appearances in the NCAA Doubles Championship. They became the first duo to accomplish the feat since the Hokies joined the ACC.
