BLACKSBURG – Following No. 3 Virginia Tech softball's 5-4 victory over Kentucky in the Blacksburg Regional final on Sunday, select players met with the media. For what they had to say:
PITCHER KEELY ROCHARD
On her mindset in the seventh inning:
"I just kept telling myself to compete every single pitch. The other day, I caught myself not competing every pitch. But ever since then, I have been telling myself, 'Compete, compete, compete.'"
CATCHER MACKENZIE LAWTER
On the crowd environment:
"Our crowds have been amazing here all year. The added stands just added to our support. So, we definitely appreciated it. They're heard and help us more than they know. We really appreciated the crowds this weekend."
FIRST BASEMAN JAYME BAILEY
On the team's mindset:
"We are all fighting for each other. It was known before each game that, 'This is it. We have to do this for our seniors'. We just wanted to come together and make sure we got it done so we can move on to Super Regionals."
