Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Closing out the 2022 regular season, the No. 3 Virginia Tech baseball team (37-11, 16-9 ACC) will actively chase the ACC Coastal Division title while attempting to knock off one final league challenger this weekend when it clashes with Duke (22-29, 10-17 ACC) during a three-game series at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park (May 19-21).
Thursday's series opener will air live on ACC Network with coverage beginning at 4 p.m. Friday's game (7 p.m.) and Saturday's game (2 p.m.) will both air live on ACC Network Extra; fans may also tune into WRAD-FM 101.7 to listen to all three game as called by the play-by-play voice of Tech baseball, Evan Hughes.

TICKETED ADMISSION
Tickets are required for admission to Virginia Tech's five ACC home series this season, including this weekend's three-game series against Duke. All ticket transactions at English Field are cashless and will require a charge card for purchase.
Fans may present season tickets from their 15- or 10-ticket Flex Plans (click here to learn more information regarding season tickets), or purchase individual tickets that are priced at $10 (tickets for youth ages 6 to 18 are $5; children ages 5 and under are free). Virginia Tech students receiving tickets through the student lottery portal may access home games for free.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
• Inside the ACC Race: Virginia Tech pulls into its final regular season series on the verge of history, still in contention to win the program's first ACC Coastal Division title. Entering Thursday, the second-place Hokies (16-9) trail first-place Miami (18-9 ACC) by one game, needing to outperform the Hurricanes by one result this weekend to clinch the division crown (assuming all games are played to completion). Tech is in an interesting predicament as the respective ACC Atlantic and Coastal Division leaders – No. 14 Notre Dame and No. 9 Miami – will meet this weekend for their season-closing series in Coral Gables. Should the Hokies win at least two games against Duke, Tech would need assistance yet be in prime position to win the outright ACC regular season championship – a feat the program has yet to accomplish within the league.
• Winner, Winner: Winner of a program record, eight consecutive ACC series, Virginia Tech is eager to etch the final chapter of its unprecedented regular season success. The Hokies head into their series against Duke already lying 37 regular season victories – the most the program has achieved during its ACC tenure – needing one win against the Blue Devils to set a new program record for ACC regular season victories. Overall, Tech has won 27 of its last 32 games, vaulting to No. 5 in the NCAA Division I RPI with its 17-9 record against the RPI top 100.
• Hammer Time: Virginia Tech has mashed 91 home runs this season as the 2022 Hokies seek to become the program's fifth team to eclipse triple digits in homers since 1960. Tech is equipped with six double-digit home run hitters, led by team co-leaders Tanner Schobel (14) and Cade Hunter (14). Schobel is coming off a 2-for-4 night during Tuesday's 8-2 victory against Kansas State, during which he recorded his 17th multi-RBI game of the season, elevating his season total to 63. Gavin Cross enters this week's series against Duke having powered four home runs during his last eight games, having racked up 10 of his 13 home runs against ACC competition. Among the Hokies' other double-digit home run hitters, Jack Hurley and Carson DeMartini both hit their 12th home runs of the season during Tuesday's win while Eduardo Malinowski has hit more home runs at Tech (10) than he did across his four-year career at Penn (nine).

No. 3 Virginia Tech will make its way to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the 2022 ACC Baseball Championship, to be contested between Tuesday, May 24, and Sunday, May 29 at Truist Field. The Hokies, who are making their sixth all-time appearance in the tournament (first time during consecutive seasons), are pursuing their first postseason league championship within the conference.
