Blacksburg, Va. -- The Virginia Tech lacrosse team (8-7, 2-5) fell 15-14 to the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils (14-1, 5-1) at Thompson Field Thursday night.
How It Happened
After a tight first half, that saw the game tied after one quarter and again tied after two, the Blue Devils were able to open up an advantage in the third period with a 5-0 run to take a 13-8 lead, the largest of the night.
VT fought back, scoring five of the game's final six goals, with the last one coming from Olivia Vergano with 1:42 on the clock. Duke won the ensuing draw and bled out 90 seconds leaving Tech just a few ticks to try to advance the ball and get a shot on goal, which the Hokies ultimately were unable to do.
What's next
The Hokies will play at Coastal Carolina on Wednesday April 13 at 3 p.m. in the final non-conference game of the season.
Tech will then conclude the regular season on Thursday, April 21 at 7 p.m. against rival Virginia. That game, which is Senior Night for the program, can be seen on ACC Network Extra.Gallery: (4-7-2022) LAX: Duke Game
