BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Freshman Emma Lemley was dealing on Saturday, throwing a three-hit shutout to lead the No. 3 Virginia Tech Hokies past the Louisville Cardinals 3-0.
Lemley (14-4) went the distance for Virginia Tech (35-6, 17-2), giving up three hits, walking one and striking out 11. This is her fifth shutout of the season.
Sophomore Emma Ritter made an impact at the plate for the Hokies, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and an RBI. Freshman Bre Peck led the Hokies at the dish, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. Senior Darby Trull also helped out, going 1-for-3 for Virginia Tech with a triple.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hokies took the lead for good in the third, scoring for the first time in the inning. Peck drove in two runs for Virginia Tech with a single that scored sophomore Cameron Fagan and Ritter.
The Hokies also added a run in the fourth inning to complete their scoring in the ballgame.
