Student’s hat trick not enough for Hokies to overcome No. 2 Boston College

Chestnut Hill, Ma. -- The Virginia Tech lacrosse team (8-6, 2-4) fell 18-8 to second-ranked Boston College Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium. BC attacker Charlotte North scored seven goals in the contest to lead all scorers.

For the Hokies, sophomore Sophie Student scored four goals, her sixth hat trick of the season, while freshman Olivia Vergano was the other Tech player to score multiple times with two goals.

How It Happened
The Eagles scored the game's first four goals and would go on to lead 8-1 after the opening period. From there, VT was competitive, holding the Eagles to just five, two and three goals in the subsequent quarters.

BC owned five more draw controls in the game and forced 16 Hokie turnovers.

In goal, Morgan Berman made seven solid saves including stopping North on a free position chance with a great stop with her shin.

What's next
The Hokies will play host to another top 10 program in Duke on Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m. That game can be seen on ACC Network.
