Lewis, Robie headline VaSID Wrestling All-State awards

VaSID Release

FERRUM – More accolades continue for Mekhi Lewis and head coach Tony Robie as they headline the 2022 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Wrestling All-State Team. Korbin Myers and Bryce Andonian join Lewis with First Team honors, while Nathan Traxler claimed Second Team placement.

Lewis claimed VaSID Wrestler of the Year honors for the second time in his career after a runner-up finish at 174 last month at the NCAA Championships, ACC Wrestler of the Year, and an ACC title where he also claimed Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Robie was voted Coach of the Year for fifth time in the last six seasons after leading the Hokies to a conference-leading eighth-place finish at the national championship and a second place ACC finish. This is the fifth straight year a Hokie was named VaSID Wrestler of the Year and the 12th time in the last 14 years the VaSID Coach of the Year has come out of Blacksburg.

Korbin Myers and Bryce Andonian were also honored as they joined Lewis on the First Team All-State team for the second time in their careers. Myers ended his illustrious career as a Hokie with a sixth-place All-American finish, while Andonian put an exclamation mark on his breakout season as a third-place All-American.

Nathan Traxler was also tabbed with Second Team All-State honors in his one year with the Hokies.
