Eight Hokies earn All-ACC Academic Team honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The ACC announced its 2022 Women's and Men's Swimming and Diving All-ACC Academic Team on Thursday morning, as eight Hokies earn recognition, four women and four men.

Karisa Franz – Junior, Public Relations 
Anna Landon – Senior, Consumer Studies & Public Relations
Teagan Moravek – Senior, Human Development
Sarah Shackelford – Junior, Biological Sciences
 
All-ACC Men's Swimming & Diving Academic Team
Filippo Dal Maso, Senior, Architecture
Luis Dominguez – Freshman, Nanomedicine 
Thomas Hallock – Graduate Student, Aerospace Engineering
Forest Webb – Junior, Management
 
Virginia Tech has several athletes who have received this honor more than once. Teagan Moravek, Filippo Dal Maso, and Thomas Hallock earn their third All-ACC Academic honor, while Sarah Shackelford and Forest Webb earn their second. 
 
This year, the men's program tied their highest-ever finish at the NCAA Championship, 11th overall, while scoring the most points in program history, 143. Luis Dominguez and Forest Webb both earned All-American Honorable Mention during the competition. Sarah Shackelford and Anna Landon earned an All-American Honorable Mention in the 400 free relay, and Shackelford earned another one in 800 free relay. 
 
After the ACC's Virginia Tech returned to Blacksburg with 14 metals. The women set three school records, with Landon and Shackelford each a part of two of them. 
 
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
