CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Solid showings in the third round by Connor Burgess and Connor Johnson Jr. allowed both golfers to finish tied for 14th at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial on Tuesday. As a team, the Hokies finished seventh, shooting -1 through all 54 holes of the three-round competition.

Johnson Jr. found himself tied for the top spot on the leaderboard after the first round, as he shot a 67 (-4), recording birdies on three of his last six holes. Burgess and Daniel Azallion picked up the pace in the second round, as Burgess shot a 70 (-1) in the round that was split up into two days due to darkness. Starting on the ninth hole of his second round, Azallion put up three consecutive birdies to book a 68 (-3).

An early pair of birdies in Johnson Jr.'s last 18 set the pace for his day, as he leaped nine spots on the individual leaderboard into 14th with a 69 (-2) round. A birdie on Burgess' final hole of the day wrapped up a 70 (-1) on Tuesday and placed him tied for 14th, as well.

Bradley de Beer was another big mover for Tech on Tuesday, as he pocketed birdies on three of his last four holes to shoot a 70 (-1).

The next time Virginia Tech takes the course will be at Camp Creek Golf Club in Watersound, Fla. for the ACC Men's Golf Championship, which runs from April 22-25.
