CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Virginia Tech was unable to slow down No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday, falling 7-0 to the nation's top team.
In doubles, Katie Andreini and Annie Clark were unable to replicate their upset of a few weeks ago, falling on Court 1. Erika Cheng and Rita Pinto faltered on Court 2, clinching the doubles point for North Carolina. Elizabet Danailova and Dariya Radulova kept it close on court 3, but their match was halted early at 3-3 when the point was clinched.
Danailova carried some of her momentum into singles, going down to the wire with No. 10 Reilly Tran in the first set, ultimately falling 7-6 (4). Other than that, North Carolina's singles lineup, which contains four players ranked in the top-35, was able to cruise to straight set victories across the board.
The Hokies will regroup and travel to Durham for a match against No. 9 Duke tomorrow morning.
