Bailey hits grand slam in No. 6 Hokies win over No. 14/9 Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Junior Jayme Bailey collected four RBIs to help propel the No. 6 Virginia Tech Hokies past the No. 14/9 Clemson Tigers 6-1 on Friday.

Senior Keely Rochard (7-2) started in the circle and picked up the win for Virginia Tech (12-3, ). The right-hander went 5.2 shutout innings while giving up two hits, allowing three walks and striking out six. Sophomore Ivy Rosenberry came on in relief, giving up one run on two hits, striking out two. 

Bailey went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in addition to her four RBIs for the Hokies. Junior Kelsey Brown put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Emma Ritter also contributed for Virginia Tech, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fourth inning. Virginia Tech's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a grand slam off the bat of Bailey. Clemson put one run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh but a ground out ended the game in the Hokies favor.
